The Catholic Workers College, Dublin, was formed in 1951 as a cooperative effort between the Jesuits of Ireland and the Trade Unions of Ireland.
Students can take full and part-time courses in psychology, finance, business, and computing at the self-governing college that was established in 2012.
However, the courses are taught at the IFSC campus in Dublin and at regional locations across the country.
Psychology, human resource management, data analytics, management, cloud computing, fintech, accounting, cybersecurity, and education and finance are among the many specialties of the National College of Ireland.

The National College of Ireland was founded in Sandford Lodge, Ranelagh, in 1951 as the Catholic Workers College, Dublin. Fr. Edward Coyne S.J. founded the institution with the help of trade unionists like Walter Beirne and others, including professor Thomas A. Finlay S.J. and the Rev. Edmund Kent S.J.
In addition, two nights a week, a small group of committed Jesuits taught 103 first-year students. Within a decade, the school’s student population had grown significantly.
There was also a strengthening of ties with the trade unions and formal collaborations with management and business organizations.
The National College of Industrial Relations was renamed the National College of Industrial Relations in 1966, with about 1,300 students from trade union and company management backgrounds learning together (NCIR).
The precursor of HETAC, the National Council for Educational Awards (NCEA), recognized some of the National College of Ireland’s programs in 1976.
The National College of Ireland (NCI) was re-launched in 1998, with an expanded National Campus Network and a new order of outreach initiatives throughout the Republic of Ireland.
The property and buildings at Sandford Road were passed from the Jesuits to the College Board of Management as the National College of Ireland grew.
in cooperation with The Irish Times and Newstalk 106-108 FM, the National College of Ireland conducted a series of free discussions called the Insight Debate Series in 2009 and 2010.
In 2021, the college was able to join the European, Erasmus Charter in Higher Education, a major achievement for the institution (ECHE).

Eligibility for Claddagh Scholarship Program
- All Chinese citizens are eligible to apply for the Claddagh Scholarship Program.
- To be eligible for the grant, students must enroll in a master’s degree program in business or computer science at the university.
- To be eligible for the Claddagh Scholarship Program, students must meet all admission requirements for their selected program at the National College of Ireland.
- As a candidate for the scholarship, you must demonstrate your prior accomplishments (academic or otherwise) and provide evidence of your motivations for receiving the award.
